How Can Daddy Bond When You Do The Feeding?

How can Daddy bond with our Baby?

Try out a sling!

Some Dads would love to experience pregnancy but this is an acceptable trade right? Having baby in the sling all snuggled up keeps dads arms free and tends to keep baby settled for longer periods between feeding. A blessing for those who breastfeed.

Skin to skin Contact

If baby is especially fussy or just had a diaper change cuddling up with baby on your chest can be very relaxing and calming for the two of them. The warmth of his skin, gentle heartbeat under that little ear, and the soothing sound of that low deep voice.

Give That Cute Little Stinker a Bath

Some peanuts don’t particularly like baths but for those who don’t mind those 10 minutes or so of uninterrupted attention is great.  He can pick out a special bath wash, find a cute towel. Wash that soft delicate hair.

Massage

They get gassy, and sore. You enter the world with weak uncoordinated muscles, a massage would probably feel pretty great. Our boys tended to be pretty gaseous so a rub down with some silky baby lotion helped a great deal.

Basic Baby Duties

The act of doing everyday acts helps seal the bond. You feel responsible for them, realize they depend on you for everything. Loading them in the car seat is a great chance for an extra kiss after you buckle them in. Tickle them during nappy changes. Lay down on the floor and play with some toys.

Cuddle as a Family

Snuggle up to mom while she feeds baby. Curl up and watch a movie, rub that soft skin, admire those tiny little socks.

The first smile, first giggle, and when those little arms reach for you is how you know your bonding as a Daddy/Baby Team.
