Why TPU instead of PUL

What is this TPU I am hearing about? Why not stick with PUL?
TPU first off is Thermoplastic Polyurethane. The biggest thing about TPU is that overall it is still PUL. What makes it TPU is mainly focused just on how and what they laminate the fabric with. PUL traditionally was bonded with the laminate using a chemical process, where TPU is heat bonded.
It is said that PUL which is chemically treated bonds much better than TPU. PUL is less susceptible to high heat and may last longer because of its stronger bonding process. TPU may require more precautions with care. High heat can cause it to delaminate more so than PUL. What makes TPU great is that by using heat bonding instead it eliminates a large majority of the chemicals needed to produce the water proof barrier. We suspect that one day when that sacred diaper reaches the end of its life it will biodegrade faster than its traditional PUL counterpart.  Can you imagine throwing out one of your cloth diapers?! Lock me up in a room with nails on a chalkboard, so much better than tossing away a cloth diaper!
TPU can be disputed as superior in look and feel. It’s stretchier, more flexible, less crunchy and plastic feeling, best of all softer!

In my personal opinion my TPU diapers have outlasted the traditional PUL diapers I have had in the past. My TPU still look great on the inside and outside and show no signs of wear, but my PUL shows more wear while remaining functional. My few cents anyway!
